Summary: "The new norm for Kellerman"

I've read all of Jonathan Kellerman's books and have been reading them since he first started publishing. I really enjoyed the first few, the character development was good, the main characters were multi-dimensional and the plots were interesting with a few twists. Sadly the most recent of his books, particularly the latest, Evidence, have become dry and uninteresting.

He can still do plot, along with a few twists, but it doesn't make up for the missing character development.

My primary complaint about Evidence, and his later books, has been the dry characterizations and lack of emotion in the main characters. Milo Sturgis has grown somewhat, but I can't say I know any more about his character now than I learned during the early books in the Delaware series. Alex Delaware is only a fragment of a personality, fading more and more with each book. If I were a psychologist I'd diagnose him with severe depression, since he has little or no emotion throughout, and nearly every comment is a one-liner question or answer. If Kellerman's alter ego is Alex Delaware then Kellerman needs some anti-depressants.

One of the reasons I enjoyed the earlier books was the in-depth look at character and personality. It's missing in Evidence and I hope it returns.

I love Alex Delaware novels. Wait, make that "loved." I rarely don't finish a book. I stopped reading this one 3/4 way through b/c it was such a chore. I just didn't care what happened.

It's Kellerman. It's Alex Delaware. How could it be anything but great? I love the way he intermingles the plot twists. Always a joy to read for any detective, mystery or police procedural fan. This is no exception.

Summary: "unbelievable plot loose ends left dangling"

This plot is basically unbelievable. He introduces new information at the end that should have been included earlier as clues. He leaves many story lines dangling so you;re left wondering "what happend to...?"

Very unsatisfying.
